What is Vulnerability Scanning?

A vulnerability scan is an automated security assessment that checks your systems for known vulnerabilities, missing patches, insecure configurations, exposed services, and common weaknesses. Unlike penetration testing (which is a time-boxed, human-led attack simulation), vulnerability scanning is designed to run regularly to spot risk as your environment changes.

Impacts of poor network security

Data shows two in five businesses use a managed IT provider but only 13 per cent review the security risks posed by their immediate suppliers.
Almost half of businesses (46%) and a quarter of charities (26%) report having cyber security breaches or attacks in the last 12 months.
The nature of cyber attacks has also changed since 2017. Over this period, there has been, among those identifying any breaches or attacks, a rise in businesses experiencing phishing attacks (from 72% to 86%), and a fall in viruses or other malware (from 33% to 16%).
